MENTORING

Learn it. Apply it.

Make it work.

Practical mentoring for real delivery challenges.

The Design for Flow course gives you the concepts, methods and tools.

Mentoring gives you somewhere to work through your situation.

Add two or four sessions of personalised mentoring and consulting to the self-study course and use that time to explore a real delivery challenge, review your way of working or work out how to apply the material to your team.

Every mentoring journey starts with a free kick-off session so we can figure out how to support you.

You don't need another lecture.

The course already contains the learning material.

Mentoring is different.

Bring a problem, process, question or situation and use the time to work through it with someone who has hands-on experience in software delivery.

What could we work on?

Roles and responsibilities

Who is responsible for what? Where are responsibilities unclear? Where do decisions get stuck?

Planning

How much should you plan? What should you prepare now? What can wait?

Risk

Where are the hidden dependencies, skill gaps, unknowns and availability problems?

Flow

Where does work get stuck? Why? What could you change?

Communication

How can the team stay informed without constant interruptions?

Process design

What should your team's way of working actually look like?

Continuous improvement

What should you change first, and how will you know whether the change helped?

Personalised support for your delivery journey

Every mentoring journey starts with a free kick-off session. This gives us a chance to understand your needs, explore your current situation and find the best way to support you. It also helps us point you to the most relevant parts of the course.

After the kick-off, you can choose how to structure your journey.

You might prefer to start with the course and then book your mentoring sessions. Or you might want to begin with a session, get some tailored advice and then work through the course.

It's entirely up to you.

Your mentoring journey

A practical, context-first approach

We won't start by telling you which framework you should use.

We'll start with your situation.

What's happening?

What's getting in the way?

What information do you have?

What problem are you trying to solve?

Then we can look at which tools or approaches make sense.

The aim is not to give you another process to copy. The objective is not to make your process more Agile. The objective is to make your delivery work better.

The aim is not to give you another process to copy. It's to give you the understanding and practical tools to build one that works for you.

Frequently askes questions

Is mentoring included in the course?

The standard self-study course is separate. You can add either two or four hours of personalised mentoring and consulting.

Is mentoring the same as coaching?

Not exactly. The sessions can include coaching-style questioning, practical advice and consulting depending on what you need.

Do I need to finish the course first?

No. You can decide when to use the mentoring time based on your needs.

What should I bring to a mentoring session?

Bring a real question, challenge, process, team situation or idea you want to explore.

Can mentoring help me if I'm new to delivery management?

Yes. Mentoring can be useful whether you're building your delivery skills or dealing with a more established team's challenges.

Can mentoring be used for a whole team?

The mentoring offers are primarily designed around an individual learner's needs. For broader team work, team workshops are the better fit.
